China's PVC plastic additives will pay more attention to environmental protection
January 17, 2019
At the PVC environmental protection auxiliaries seminar recently held in Suzhou, experts and representatives from the plastics additives industry discussed the development direction of various environmental protection additives for PVC in China. Experts believe that PVC additives will be more environmentally friendly.
In view of the development direction of PVC heat stabilizers, experts believe that China should develop calcium and zinc composite stabilizers in the future. The organic tin heat stabilizer, rare earth heat stabilizer and organic heat stabilizer were supplemented, and the performance and application range of different types of heat stabilizers were compared and analyzed.
The compound lead salt stabilizer should further enhance the thermal stability to reduce the unit dosage in the resin: dibutyltin in the organic tin heat stabilizer is more toxic and is not suitable as a plastic heat stabilizer; the mercaptans organotin is resistant Poor copper is not suitable for use in wire and cable products, but it is not a problem for copper-free products; lead-and-salt heat stabilizers are being banned or restricted in most industrialized countries.
China is currently restricted to bans in food, toys, and water pipes, but it is estimated that more stringent and more explicit bans will be introduced in the near future.
With regard to the EU’s current tumultuous EU ban on the use of four plasticizers in children’s toys, two Ph.Ds at Jiangnan University and LG Chemicals introduced epoxy high molecular weight plasticizers and three citric acid esters at the conference. Several non-toxic environmentally friendly plasticizers such as butyl ester and trimellitate are considered to be completely replaceable with ethyl hexyl phthalate (DOP or DEHP) and ethylhexyl adipate (DOA, ie DEHA). No matter whether it is a synthetic process or a source of raw materials, it is not a problem, but there are still some differences in prices. However, after large-scale production, the prices will drop significantly.
Regarding flame retardants, on October 15th, the European Union announced a resolution to formally include decabromodiphenyl ether in the exemption list of “RolS” directive for electrical and electronic equipment. The bromine flame retardant is this product, which is a good thing for the domestic flame retardant industry. At present, companies have a misunderstanding about the use of flame retardants and believe that all heavy metals are prohibited. Experts pointed out that in fact, inorganic metal salts and metal oxides are all materials that should be promoted. However, at present, China is still lagging behind in the field of ultra-fine, nano- and micro-encapsulation technologies of inorganic flame retardants. Therefore, excessive use of flame retardants has resulted in a decrease in the mechanical properties of the products. This is also a task that should be studied in China.
